According to the Alliance for Excellence in Education, approximately 1.2 million students fail to graduate from high school.  However college graduates make twice as much over a lifetime than those with just a high school diploma.

Charles City Educational Foundation provides:

  • Student Scholarships: The foundation typically awards two scholarships each year.  The process to apply typically begins in May and the announcement occurs in June.
2017 Student Scholarships
Nakoma Adkins - John Tyler Community College, $1,000
Kyle Jones - Virginia Commonwealth University, $1,000

Please email us at info@investcharlescity.org if you would like to find out more about establishing a scholarship fund to recognize a family member, graduating class or special person or event that you would like to honor.

  • Recognizing Superior Teaching Leadership:  Many of our teachers spend countless hours going the extra mile for their students.  The foundation is proud to recognize these individuals each year with a small financial gift.
2017 Teacher of the Year
Elementary School teacher Ms. Cynthia Merritt - $500
High School teacher Ms. Bronwyn Mosley - $500

2017 District Representative
Ms. Bronwyn Mosley- $250

  • Teacher Grants:  Grants are available to teachers to aid in innovative projects. We encourage teachers to apply early in the school year, and require before and after assessments that demonstrates how the project met targeted goals.

 Other Funded Activities

Readers Are Leaders:  The foundation provided $5,000 to help provide books for all middle school students.  This program was aimed at addressing the lack of age-appropriate reading materials in many homes.

Family Resource Center: The foundation funded the creation of the family resource center in the elementary school.  The center provides learning materials for students for out-of-school time, and serves as a support system for parents.

Leader in Me:  The foundation continues to support The Leader in Me program, a Franklin Covey award winning 21st century leadership and life skills program, in the elementary school.
